{"id":1609,"date":"2014-06-05T12:13:01","date_gmt":"2014-06-05T17:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nomad.priv.at\/researchblog\/?p=1609"},"modified":"2014-06-05T12:13:01","modified_gmt":"2014-06-05T17:13:01","slug":"and-research-for-the-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nomad.priv.at\/researchblog\/?p=1609","title":{"rendered":"&#8230; and research for the summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was able to do quite a bit of research during last fall and winter term, despite my high teaching load, preparing\/co-writing proposals for atmospheric chemistry studies.<\/p>\n<p>My current work focuses on<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Methodology development and validation for formaldehyde in air<\/li>\n<li>Multivariate statistics model development (mostly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.princeton.edu\/picasso\/mats\/PCA-Tutorial-Intuition_jp.pdf\">PCA<\/a>-based) for the discrimination of contaminated foodstuffs by FTIR-ATR spectroscopy. The work is part of the EU FP7 funded <a href=\"http:\/\/mycospec.eu\">MYCOSPEC<\/a> project.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Especially the second project has been most interesting and challenging, working with medium sized datasets (2000 x 3000 elements) in Matlab. After transitioning from R I am now fairly well versed in Matlab as well.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I am occasionally helping out putting the finishing touches on the Emissions Chapter of the Canadian Mercury Science Assessment, which I have led as chapter coordinator and lead author.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was able to do quite a bit of research during last fall and winter term, despite my high teaching load, preparing\/co-writing proposals for atmospheric chemistry studies.
